Một cựu binh Mỹ cất hết các bức ảnh về thời đau thương trên chiến trường nay quyết định công bố để thế giới nhìn rõ hơn hình ảnh cuộc chiến ác liệt tại Việt Nam.
Tác giả bộ ảnh hiếm có về Việt Nam, Charlie Haughey là một lính bộ binh tham chiến tại Việt Nam từ tháng 3/1968 đến tháng 5/1969. Ông được lệnh chụp ảnh các hoạt động của quân đội Mỹ thay cho phóng viên ảnh bị thương. Tuy nhiên, sau khi rời Việt Nam, ông lại cất hết 2.000 bức ảnh chụp được, để quên đi những ký ức đau buồn trong những ngày đi lính, cho đến những năm gần đây mới công bố. Triển lãm ảnh của ông sẽ diến ra trong tuần sau tại ADX, thành phố Porland bang Oregon.
Người đàn ông ngồi bên miệng một hố bom sâu hoắm sau khi bị máy bay B-52 dội bom. Haughey nhớ lại rằng khi đó đơn vị ông đang ở trên mặt đất, họ nhận được thông báo máy bay B-52 sắp thả bom tại địa điểm cách đó chưa đầy 2 km và được lệnh di chuyển. Họ không nhìn thấy máy bay hay bom mà chỉ thấy đột nhiên mặt đất rung chuyển, tiếng nổ đinh tai và các đám mây khói bùng lên.
